In September 2014, Christopher will join the staff at Elmhurst School for Dance in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet as head of musicians and musical support.
This job will give Chris the opportunity to continue to musically train dancers, engage with pianists to help them understand the importance of correct musical support during ballet class / rehearsals and to initiate a training scheme for musicains. This scheme will teach musicians how to accompany classes and rehearsals.

Today I’m excited to share two new class CDs from UK pianist Christopher Hobson:Modern Ballet Studio Melodies, Volume 5 and Modern Ballet Studio Melodies Original Compositions. Each features 32 non-repeating tracks of crisply recorded solo piano music.
Christopher works with The Lowry and the Centre for Advanced Training in dance (CAT) programme.
The students end of year performance 2014 will feature original choreographed works by guest artists as well as new works choreographed by students and CAT directors. A selection of these pieces will feature original music composed Christopher Hobson and Julie Bruce.

What a delight! Christopher Hobson has really come up with lovely arrangements that work for ballet class here on “Sounds of Christmas“. I doubt it was an easy task to make these songs fit for barre and center, but the way he has done it–they sound totally natural.
